Our Mission

The mission of the Western Maryland Regional Geographic Information System Center (WMRGISC) at Frostburg State University (FSU) is to provide a technological presence in Western Maryland that is capable of providing Geographic Information System (GIS) solutions to private, local, State, and Federal sectors of the community. The WMRGISC strives to increase regional engagement while creating an educational as well as a business environment that may be used by all disciplines on the Frostburg State University campus. Undergraduate student employees at Frostburg State University are provided technical skill enhancement as well as real world experience while working on projects in a GIS office.

The WMRGISC specializes in offering customized mapping, data conversion, historical research and mapping, geospatial analysis, and remote sensing, as well as presentation quality graphics/posters services to its customers.
